City of Pyatigorsk
Pyatigorsk State University is located in scenic Piedmont region of South Russia within eco-resort Caucasian Mineral Spa area and in the capital of the North Caucasus Federal District - the City of Pyatigorsk with a population of 215,000 residents and over 120,000 tourists and vacationers attending annually its health and resort facilities for treatment and recreation. Pyatigorsk enjoys a temperate healthful climate with a lot of sunshine in Spring thru Fall and mild Winter, and lies in 50 miles from the Great Caucasus Range of mountains and Elbrus, the highest peak of Europe (5,642 m), where mountain tourism, rock climbing and the best downhill skiing venues in Russia are offered.
Pyatigorsk is proud of its rich history and cultural heritage. The famous Russian writers and poets Alexander Pushkin, Michail Lermontov, Leo Tolstoy lived and created here their famous Caucasian poems and novels that made imperishable treasures of Russian Literature.

The University has been listed among the best Liberal Arts schools in the country with high educational standards, innovative curriculum and developed infrastructure, multinational student-friendly atmosphere and a variety of educational programs offered at quite affordable costs. Eight Institutes and Higher Schools of the University provide instruction to over 4,600 students from all over Russia and 32 foreign countries enrolled in a variety of programs leading to BA, Specialist, MA and Ph.D. Degrees, including a selection of e-learning programs. The uniqueness of all full-time programs is that they are taught in combination with 2 applied foreign languages.
In 2015 Pyatigorsk State University was awarded the Certificate of Acknowledgement from President of Russian Federation for achievements in the training of highly qualified professionals.
As Russian is the main language of teaching thus the non–Russian speaking students are welcome to take a one-year preparatory Russian language course to be thereafter enrolled for the selected major and profession. International students with Russian language skills of at least B1 level can apply directly for the selected full-time program or e-learning optional programs that give also a chance to obtain second Degree along with the one earned at home institution.
The international students enjoy a healthy lifestyle and opportunities to freely attend library, computer labs, sports facilities, student clubs, social life and cultural events. The fully equipped on-campus dorm accommodation is available as well as numerous student cafeterias spread throughout the University.
