The pedagogical foundations of Unicastelo are cemented in trend initiated in Basic Education in 1964 with the Liceu Camilo Castelo Branco. Today, the Unicastelo exudes codes of modernity and contemporary adds enough value to support and enrich curricula of students and teachers.
During his educational saga, the university consolidated in 1971, the creation of the faculty of Economics, Accounting and Business Administration and Physical Education. The course of Business Administration was born a year later. The first courses, authorized in 1971, were recognized during 1974 and Business Administration in 1975. The expansion of course offerings increased so much that at the end of the 80s, the institution already had 24 graduate courses. Not by chance, in 1989, won accreditation as a university through Ordinance 374 of the Ministry of Education.
In May 2005, the Board introduced a new Unicastelo triggering, from then on, the process of adaptation to the university Bridge Decree, published in the Federal Official Gazette on 05/10/06. In 2006, held the first meeting of its Superior Councils CONSUN (University Council) and CONSEPE (Board of Education and Research), organs collegiate members of senior management of the university, whose effective functioning suits actual statutes of the university, its PPI (Institutional Education Programme) and its PDI (Institutional Development Plan), required, by law, for the accreditation of any educational institution with the Ministry of Education and vital tools for the planning and growth of the University.
Finally, register the Unicastelo was the first university in the country to file such regulatory documents, already adjusted to the new demands of the MEC. Indeed, in the process of regulatory adjustment, establishing from the outset the Commission for assessment and updated status that in addition to education policies, brings innovative plan of teaching career. It is important that the identity of Unicastelo be strengthened and shared among all members of their community to the academic pride is not limited to the redemption of significant moments of history, but find encouragement in permanent mechanisms of memory university building for the future. This is not to replace the tradition, but to invent a reasoned present in the symbiosis between theory and practice.
