Introduction

UNIPE bases its institutional project on the conviction that Higher Education is a social public good, a human and universal right, and a duty of the State, a principle endorsed by the universities of the region in the Regional Conference on Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, 2008.

In accordance with article 4 of the Higher Education Law, which refers to expanding coverage and democratizing access to Higher Education, UNIPE intends to promote access to university classrooms for teachers and the different agents of the national educational system who, For various reasons, did not consider the possibility or could not access university training.

As a university, UNIPE is a state institution whose mission is to make academic life possible, which is organized around the teaching and research unit. The academic community is made up of professors and students organized around the desire to know and committed to the construction of knowledge and the development of science and culture.

As a guiding pedagogical principle, UNIPE seeks to promote among students a relationship with the knowledge that is not instrumental or mechanical. It is proposed to cultivate an investigative attitude, of openness, search, and construction of knowledge, capable of challenging certain conceptions that reduce the relationship of students with the knowledge to a series of recipes or tools to implement something previously established.

Considering the relevance in the contemporary world of building bridges with digital culture and with audiovisual language, UNIPE fosters the pedagogical appropriation of these languages and guides the design of their careers with the distinctive mark of the blended modality.
