Key Study Topics
- Cinematography, post-production and sound
- Elective modules including production management, screenwriting, documentary, music promo and corporate video
Year 1
The first year focuses on the development of craft skills, industry awareness, and deepening contextual understanding of moving image forms.
Production projects within both semesters require you to collaborate; juxtaposing craft skills workshops with more analytical sessions to enhance contextual understanding.
A focus on your career aspirations will be supported with employability workshops designed to both broaden your insights into moving image industries and equip you with practical skills and knowledge.
Enhanced industry awareness in the first year will lead to the development of your CV and online profile.
Year 2
During the second year, you will be encouraged to specialise in subject areas that align with your career aspirations. You will choose to deepen your skills, knowledge and understanding in relation to up to three specialist moving image disciplines.
While the emphasis in your first year will be on conventions, in your second year there will be a shift towards experimentation, as you are encouraged to push the boundaries of what is possible in the creation of moving image content.
You will collaborate with students from beyond your course, working outside your comfort zone to develop soft skills and develop your emotional intelligence.
Year 3
In your third year, you will continue to collaborate, but in a more self-directed mode.
You will apply everything you’ve learnt through your final major project, which will act as your calling card for potential employers.
Your contextual understanding and critical thinking will deepen as you undertake a Professional Practice Research Project, which is aligned with your individual career aspirations.
