Your passion for health and wellness can lead to a rewarding career in a rapidly growing industry. Nova Southeastern University’s Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Coaching will prepare you to provide personalized health solutions for patients or clients in a holistic manner. You’ll learn how to assess client lifestyles and family support systems, develop a tailored diet and/or wellness plans, create health education materials, conduct health workshops and seminars, build a clinical practice and apply solution-building strategies to coaching.
NSU’s B.S. in Health and Wellness Coaching program offers you opportunities to work directly with faculty members from the departments of public health, human nutrition, and couple and family therapy—in the classroom as well as in the community. The interprofessional experiences of our faculty provide you with the benefits, rewards, and challenges of working in health and wellness coaching. This program is also a great foundation if you’re interested in continuing your education in other health-related post-graduate programs or in behavioral health professions such as couple and family therapy.

General Education Requirements (30 credits)
Students are required to complete 30 credit hours as part of the General Education Program and 30 additional credit hours with open electives. Freshmen are required to successfully complete First-Year Seminar (UNIV 1000) in their first semester at NSU.

Students are required to take 18 credits of major electives, of which 9 credits may be taken from the B.S. in Public Health and/or Human Nutrition programs.
Experiential Learning/Internships
During your undergraduate studies, you’ll have a number of hands-on opportunities to gain real-world experience, including:
- Interprofessional domestic and global outreach travel courses.
- Shadowing/observations at NSU’s onsite Family Therapy Clinic (Brief Therapy Institute).
- Internships opportunities through community partners.
Clinic Exploration Program
The Clinic Exploration Program (CEP) offers students the opportunity to shadow medical professionals on the job in many of NSU’s medical and health clinics. Program participants gain a broad perspective that shows how various medical fields work together and a practical, up-close review of several medical career options.
All undergraduate students may take part in CEP, no matter what major they pursue. Each rotation lasts two hours per week, for three weeks. Because this is a volunteer program, member commitments are flexible and voluntary.

Health and wellness is a fast-growing profession. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that jobs for health educators and community health workers will grow 13 percent from 2019 to 2029, which is much faster than the average. This growth will be due to efforts to improve health outcomes and reduce health care costs by teaching people healthy behaviors and how to use available health care resources.
