Introduction

What is a Leadership Degree?

The leadership and social responsibility degree program is designed for students who are interested in taking a leadership role in organizations and promoting socially responsible behavior, high ethical standards, and a positive impact on their world.

Whether you want to be a business executive, an innovative entrepreneur, or be involved in social corporate responsibility, a leadership degree from Florida Tech develops strong skills in leadership and a concentrated background in socially responsible behavior and high ethical standards.

A Stellar Faculty Brings the Latest Developments Right into the Classroom

Students who specialize in leadership and social responsibility as part of their business administration degree learn how to apply critical thinking to evaluate corporate social responsibility. With student success of utmost importance at Florida Tech, professors make sure that students are privy to valuable industry knowledge and expertise. Our experienced faculty members have diverse backgrounds and work diligently to provide qualified instruction using real-world experiences in hands-on projects, events, promotions, and internships.

The Nathan M. Bisk College of Business Delivers an International Leadership Perspective

Students learn alongside their international peers both on-campus and through virtual teams, bringing together students from around the globe using cloud and web technologies. Students have an opportunity to study abroad, take advantage of international internships, participate in innovative class projects and business competitions, and work closely with high-quality faculty who have expertise in various international business disciplines such as economics, accounting, management, finance, and marketing.

Global management program students hone their finance and international business skills through competitions, including:

  • Strategic Management Intercollegiate Case Competition
  • Cadillac Case Competition, where Florida Tech students placed fourth among 53 universities
  • ANGA Collegiate Energy Challenge
  • Honda CRZ Social Marketing Challenge
  • Florida National Guard Promotion Challenge

Superb Undergraduate Research Opportunities

There are also many opportunities for hands-on learning, particularly through our Center for Entrepreneurship and New Business Development, which focuses on entrepreneurial education, global innovation, and practical research in pursuit of new venture creation, sustainability, social value creation, and venture acceleration; and our Center for Ethics and Leadership, which promotes the practice of ethical behavior and effective leadership by engaging in activities that provide a forum for research, discussion, and a better understanding of ethics and leadership among all stakeholders in society. Key initiatives in the global management program include an ethics and leadership breakfast, an intercollegiate ethics competition, a leadership conference, and projects about corporate social responsibility.

Located in the Heart of Florida’s High-Tech Corridor

Florida Tech is the perfect place for a Leadership and Social Responsibility degree. The 130-acre campus is located on the Space Coast (so named because of the presence of NASA and the Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral just north of us), minutes away from the Indian River Lagoon, the most diverse estuary in North America.

The area has the fifth-largest high-tech workforce in the country, with more than 5,000 high-tech corporations and government and military organizations located nearby. This workforce also provides an abundance of internship and employment opportunities.

Florida Tech is just over the causeway from the Atlantic Ocean with its 72 miles of beautiful beaches, and a short trip to the Florida Keys or the Orlando theme parks. We also have a rich campus life that includes a wide range of intramural and collegiate sports, clubs, and social activities.

Build Lasting Professional Relationships through Campus Organizations

Beyond the classroom, leadership degree majors build leadership experience and develop leadership experience through participation in academic organizations like the Society for the Advancement of Management, the International Business Club, student government, and over 100 other student organizations.

The business honor society Delta Mu Delta helps students make connections nationally and internationally as they prepare to enter a global job market. Delta Mu Delta also helps develop academic excellence in business students. The Florida Tech Entrepreneur Club also allows students to meet with local entrepreneurs to learn more about business firsthand and exchange creative ideas.

Peerless Study and Internship Opportunities

A leadership internship at a local business provides Florida Tech students with an opportunity to test their skills in a real-world environment. By forging relationships with companies through these internships, students can work at many well-known companies, including:

  • Northrop Grumman
  • Clear Channel Outdoor
  • Merrill Lynch
  • Harris Corporation
  • Kennedy Space Center
