Introduction
Since its establishment in 1979, the Department of Korean Language and Literature focuses on three fields of study:
Korean linguistics, contemporary literature, and classical literature. Korean linguistics is the study of rules and evolution that govern the Korean language whereas contemporary literature is the research, criticism and creativeness of each literary genre of modern times. Classical literature is the study to understand the reality of the national literary traditions and establish a phase-cultural history by incorporating both the oral and written literature. The Department of Korean Language and Literature studies these three fields systematically and simultaneously explores a wide range of applications in ways to continue to contribute to the national culture.
