The Honours Bachelor of Public Relations Management at Centennial College's Story Arts Centre is a unique, first-of-its-kind offering in Canada that combines public relations and business studies. In four years, this program will prepare you for an exciting career in public relations (PR), social media, and corporate communications.
The Honours Bachelor of Public Relations Management program, offered by the School of Communications, Media, Arts and Design in collaboration with the School of Business, will balance the theory, principles, and application of PR with a solid foundation in business principles through ten core business courses.
During your time in the program, you'll complete real-world projects that will allow you to apply your newly acquired knowledge. From writing media releases to planning events, you'll engage in practical scenarios that will ground the core classroom concepts of this four-year degree.
To prepare you for a variety of careers, the Public Relations Management courses will include a strong focus on:
- Writing
- Social and digital media
- Research and communications planning
- Strategic communications
- Corporate communications
A 14-week industry field placement, during which you'll gain real-world experience prior to graduation, will round out this program.
Because the program will highlight research, social and digital media, corporate communications, and foundations in business, you'll develop the critical thinking and strategic communication skills to perform a vital role in health organizations and businesses.
This college has been granted consent by the Minister of Colleges and Universities to offer this applied degree for a seven-year term starting August 18, 2020. The college shall ensure that all students admitted to the above-named program during the period of consent will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame.

- Develop specialized, interdisciplinary knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts, and methods for business operations from management, finance, marketing, legal, human resources, and operations perspectives, with an emphasis on their application as they relate to communications and public relations.
- Integrate practical knowledge of public relations theory and best practices in the development and execution of communications programs across multiple sectors including corporate, not-for-profit, and public sector organizations
- Interpret the impact of social, cultural, political, and technological factors on the rapid and ongoing transformation of business, media, and communications, and formulate contemporary questions, challenges, and opportunities that arise in relation to the practice of corporate communications and public relations
- Analyze and appraise the social, cultural, political, and economic aspects of a diverse society and world in which graduates will live and participate as globally competent professionals and global citizens.
- Develop research skills to examine and analyze primary and secondary data and assess their reliability, validity, merits, and limitations to apply them to business and communications challenges.
- Integrate communications research and planning methods and skills to coordinate and conduct strategic communications planning, including the development and delivery of effective communications, public relations, and social media programs targeted to external and internal stakeholders that are aligned with an organization’s strategic objectives.
- Explain measurement standards and analytics for the analysis and evaluation of online and offline communications and public relations programs, and evaluate the impact on business objectives, outcomes, and influence.
- Incorporate analytical, critical, and independent thinking skills to assess complex business and communications issues within organizations and formulate diverse, creative communications approaches to meet them along with the ability to effectively counsel organizational decision-makers.
- Develop strategies and identify available resources for personal and professional development as a life-long learner, effective team player, and leader in the corporate communications and public relations industry.
- Conduct all activities within established PR codes of conduct, ethical practices, and communications law related to corporate communications and public relations.
