Introduction

Binghamton University, State University of New York (SUNY), is the #1 public university in New York and #52 in the U.S., (Forbes, 2023) and is consistently ranked the best value among the nation’s top 50 public universities (U.S. News & World Report). With 18,000 graduate and undergraduate students, six schools, and 130+ academic programs, Binghamton combines the atmosphere of a mid-sized institution with the resources of a large research university. There are several exclusive honors programs and research opportunities for students in every major. Binghamton is located in New York on a campus nestled in picturesque rolling hills yet just a few hours from major urban centers such as New York City, Boston, and Toronto.

Our six residential communities are where you’ll live and make friends in a supportive, strong mini-community within the larger University. Each community has its own dining hall, personality, and traditions. The city of Binghamton is a short drive away and students can ride the bus for free to enjoy plenty of local restaurants, professional sports, and arts and entertainment. Binghamton ensures our students stay safe. All residence hall doors are locked on a 24-hour basis, requiring key-card access; there is an on-campus police presence and an emergency communications system.

With 21 NCAA Division I teams, numerous club sports and intramural teams, plus 450+ student-led organizations and clubs, there’s always something to do! An award-winning career development center gives Binghamton students a significant advantage when they graduate. More than 1,800 employers recruit Binghamton students every year including Microsoft, Google, IBM, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Disney, Tata, Samsung, and many others.

    Campus Features

    Binghamton’s 3,763 square-meter campus is nestled in picturesque rolling hills and includes a nearly 770,000 square-meter Nature Preserve.
    Downtown Binghamton is just minutes away and offers a safe, friendly, medium-sized city to discover and explore the arts, local restaurants, and professional sports. We are a three-hour drive from New York City and Philadelphia, and just a five-hour drive from Boston, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.
    Binghamton provides a bus from JFK airport to campus for students when they arrive in the U.S. for the semester.
