Introduction
In the bachelor's program, students acquire the ability to use new technologies in a user-friendly manner. In addition to the creative examination of concept, draft, prototyping and the resulting sensitization for the detailed quality necessary in product development, the transdisciplinary 'design thinking process' as well as qualitative research methods are used in the cooperative modules with the Aalen University were taught in the 'theories of related sciences'. This user-centered, qualitative research creates Designers and engineers at Aalen University have a common understanding of the needs, relevance and conditions of a user-friendly use of technology. The resulting interdisciplinary, scientific competence creates the basis and arguments for the development of functional and technical possibilities of interfaces of networked hardware and software products. In this way, students are enabled to design prototypes of networked, heterogeneous systems and products.
The ability to engage in civil society is reflected in the range of topics offered in the project work, as well as in the modules of the 'theories of related sciences'. This enables the students to reflect on the problems and opportunities of current social trends and change processes, to develop possible solutions and to discuss them publicly based on their drafts and concepts. The students are able to implement their concepts in a professional context with engineers and to communicate in a technically sound manner. In doing so, they learn communication skills that develop into an interdisciplinary problem-solving language. The students think and act in an increasingly context-sensitive manner, since they are able to network knowledge flexibly and to translate it prototypically for their needs.
The program
The students acquire the ability to use new technologies in a user-friendly manner, functional and technical possibilities in the development of interfaces and the networked development of prototypical hardware and software products. In projects, the students are enabled to develop networked, heterogeneous systems and products or Design and develop monitoring and decision-making processes.
The course takes place in cooperation with the bachelor's course 'Internet of Things - Digital Technologies in Application' at Aalen University. The students of both universities develop substantive and interdisciplinary skills in joint courses and project work.
The conditions
You have a technical college entrance qualification, a general or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or equivalent training.
The chance
Society, which is increasingly shaped by the process of digitization, has fundamentally changed both the professional field of design and engineering. In the future, graduates of the course will exploit this potential and opportunities for business, industry and research. Occupational fields of the application-oriented bachelor's program can therefore be found in engineering and design offices as well as in development departments and future laboratories (think tanks) as well as in industry, media and information management. As developers of networked systems, graduates are able to formulate, visualize and implement prototypical problems and solution approaches. The students represent the position of the users, strive for high functional and procedural quality standards and take responsibility for critical reflection in the mediation between the disciplines. The students are thus moderators in the process of interdisciplinary product development, interface between engineering, design and user-centered development. Good academic performance enables admission to a master's degree.
