The Bachelor of Education Program at Aurora College is designed to provide, within the NWT, an opportunity for Aboriginal and Northern students to enter the teaching profession through full-time/part-time community and Campus-based programs. The goal of the program is to provide a uniquely Aboriginal and Northern culture-based teacher education program that will meet the educational needs of NWT students and schools. The Bachelor of Education Program is delivered in partnership with the University of Saskatchewan (U of S), with the option of a Diploma exit after successful completion of three years of required courses. Year 4 of the program will only be available at the Thebacha Campus. Courses have been selected to ensure the inclusion of the Aboriginal perspective and effective teaching techniques, as well as to meet the degree requirements of our University partner. The program is designed to be delivered over a minimum four-year period and will consist of academic and educational course work, culture camps, and internships. To graduate, students must fulfill all course and program requirements. Students graduating from the program will have teaching areas in Native Studies and English.
