Offered as a first professional degree, the Bachelor of Architecture program provides an intense design education by developing each student's capacity to synthesize critical thought, artistic vision, and responsible leadership. With passionate professional faculty, diverse collaboration teams, emerging technologies and fabrication labs, and sensitivity to sustainable methods – together we will participate in shaping our physical world.

The Bachelor of Architecture prepares students for registration and licensure to practice architecture. Architects are licensed professionals trained in the art and science of the design and construction of buildings and structures that primarily provide shelter. Additionally, architects may be involved with designing the total built environment—from how a building integrates with its surrounding landscape to architectural or construction details that involve the interior of the building to designing and creating furniture to be used in a specific space. An architect will create the overall aesthetic and look of buildings and structures, but the design of a building involves far more than its appearance. Buildings also must be functional, safe and economical and must suit the specific needs of the people who use them. Most importantly, they must be built with the public's health, safety and welfare in mind.

The Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies incorporates course work from the school with liberal studies for students with interests that fall outside the parameters of the accredited professional degree program. The architectural studies program provides opportunities for students who wish to prepare for graduate study in an accredited architecture program or in an allied discipline, such as architectural history, historic preservation, urban planning, or construction management, as well as serving students who seek opportunities in related fields that may not require the five-year accredited degree.

In our Architectural Design & Building program, you’ll learn both the creative and technical processes of rendering and designing buildings and preparing construction drawings.

The Architectural Engineering Technology (ARC) program synthesizes the aesthetic, technical and functional elements of building design and construction.

The Architecture Educational Program presents the challenge of offering professionals who have the ability to imagine solutions that allow them to reinvent what already exists and the creation of new flexible urban-architectural-constructive spaces, which are oriented towards rational growth in any context; and the efficient and effective use of material and human resources, based on a profound transformation of the fabric of our community to avoid the uncontrolled growth of the peripheries that creates social gaps of marginalization. Like the FCAS major, Amherst’s ARCH major firmly places the study of architecture in the liberal arts by encompassing the history, theory, philosophy, design, and science of the built environment. The major draws on resources and faculty from a range of disciplines across the colleges, which include art history, cultural studies, history, literature, economics, urban studies, visual and media arts, gender studies, physics, sociology, and environmental studies. With the guidance of their Amherst advisor, Amherst students create an individualized course of study that may include, among others, sustainable design, urban planning, and architectural history, theory, and criticism. An Amherst student wishing to pursue this major will meet with one of the faculty members on the College’s Architectural Studies Advisory Committee to discuss his or her interests, intentions, and coursework options. Following this discussion, the student will submit a proposal Amherst Architectural Studies major form to the Chair that identifies a focus within the major, courses are already taken, and those planned. This proposal will be shared with the other faculty in the program.

The Architecture program at El Centro provides a curriculum of transferable college-level courses that give students the opportunity to gain exposure to the wide variety of skills that architects must master.

The graduate will be able to plan, organize, control, apply and evaluate engineering projects related to architecture with an ethical and professional sense. Designs elaborate and builds relevant construction projects conserving the environment and making the most of clean energy.

The architecture career takes ten semesters; The student is trained in various fields, such as architectural project, structural calculation, works scheduling, budgeting, works administration, artistic drawing, computer drawing, interior design, architectural finish design, appraisals, supervision of works, and construction. Most of the theoretical-practical subjects are implemented in the field. For example, in the subjects of construction and facilities, the student is taken to visit works in progress in order to have more complete learning.

Welcome to the O’More College of Architecture & Design, which will welcome its first students in two undergraduate architecture programs in Fall 2020. The five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) professional program stands out as the most direct route to licensure while the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (B.S.A.S.) prepares students for graduate studies in architecture or related fields. But these programs are so much more than a path to professional success.

The undergraduate architecture program was established in 2000 to offer opportunities for undergraduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences to study architecture on various levels of engagement ranging from a Freshman Seminar and a Minor in Architecture to a Major in Architecture with three concentrations (Design, History & Theory, and Intensive Design).

A sequential 2 year program primarily intended as a transfer program for students who want to pursue a professional (B Arch) degree in architecture. At the conclusion of the program, students will be eligible to apply for advanced placement in a local university for completion of a degree in architecture. Admission and advanced placement is subject to portfolio review at the destination school. Alternatively, after completion of this program, students in California may also enter the architecture profession directly through the internship process.

The First Year Curriculum explored by all Notre Dame students forms the foundation for the principles of construction and their relationship to architectural form and the built environment. The third year, which the students spend entirely in Rome, explores traditional urbanism and how classical architecture facilitates a humane and sustainable way of life.
