Environmental design is creating environments for people including architecture, urban planning, retail spaces, landscape and interior design.

The School of Landscape Architecture BFA program focuses on the development of flexible design processes for landscape and urban design, an understanding of ecological systems, sustainable practices and use of materials, site planning, and advanced drafting and rendering techniques. By graduation, each student will have a portfolio that reflects his or her unique creative vision within this rapidly expanding and evolving profession.

The School of Interior Architecture & Design's BFA curriculum integrates theory, design, and technology in tandem with the standards of the industry. Our students develop the requisite intellectual, artistic, and ethical abilities necessary for professional practice.

Offered as a first professional degree, the Bachelor of Architecture program provides an intense design education by developing each student's capacity to synthesize critical thought, artistic vision, and responsible leadership. With passionate professional faculty, diverse collaboration teams, emerging technologies and fabrication labs, and sensitivity to sustainable methods – together we will participate in shaping our physical world.

The Bachelor of Architecture prepares students for registration and licensure to practice architecture. Architects are licensed professionals trained in the art and science of the design and construction of buildings and structures that primarily provide shelter. Additionally, architects may be involved with designing the total built environment—from how a building integrates with its surrounding landscape to architectural or construction details that involve the interior of the building to designing and creating furniture to be used in a specific space. An architect will create the overall aesthetic and look of buildings and structures, but the design of a building involves far more than its appearance. Buildings also must be functional, safe and economical and must suit the specific needs of the people who use them. Most importantly, they must be built with the public's health, safety and welfare in mind.

The Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies incorporates course work from the school with liberal studies for students with interests that fall outside the parameters of the accredited professional degree program. The architectural studies program provides opportunities for students who wish to prepare for graduate study in an accredited architecture program or in an allied discipline, such as architectural history, historic preservation, urban planning, or construction management, as well as serving students who seek opportunities in related fields that may not require the five-year accredited degree.

Students in the architecture program at the Knowlton School learn to understand formal and spatial relationships and the impact of ideas based on the research and analysis of cultural, social, political, economic and environmental contexts.

Urban and regional planners develop land use plans and programs that help create communities, accommodate population growth, and revitalize transportation infrastructure and public facilities in towns, cities, counties, and metropolitan areas, and also preserve natural resources, and as well address problems caused by pollution, and to use planning to reduce the impact of natural disasters.

The Real Estate and Urban Land Economics Option provides the background for a wide range of career opportunities in addition to residential and commercial real estate sales. These areas include development, lending, banking, appraising, escrow, property management, and construction. Usually, students who enroll in the real estate option will complete all courses necessary to take the California Brokers License Examination.

The Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies is a new pilot program starting in the Fall of 2020. Students in this program are being prepared for a career in the architectural design field. Our program incorporates interdisciplinary courses that not only provide students with a solid understanding of architectural design concepts but with a firm understanding of design graphics, urban studies, city, and regional planning, and constructability to make them competitive in the architecture industry.

The Community and Urban Transformation (CUT) program at Booth University College provides students with the opportunity to analyze the city, urbanization, and the transformational experiences of urban life through a variety of disciplinary lenses in order to promote just, sustainable, and flourishing urban communities.

Planning is the study of land use, resources, facilities, and services, as well as the physical, economic, and social well-being of communities. Planners help decide what gets built and where, from roads and transit to parks and housing developments.

Professional planners create the vision of how cities, towns, and regions should develop in the future. Planners seek to ensure that built environments in rural and urban areas are developed in ways that promote sustainability, prosperity, and a better quality of life for all.

The Bachelor of Architecture offers a study plan under the competency model in which experiences are focused on you to: Analyze and understand the problems of cities to formulate relevant urban solutions. Know the related disciplines that will allow you to design any genre of construction, being a connoisseur of architecture, art, and the city; This practice includes interior design, landscape design, urban design, and sustainable architecture. It is also affiliated with the Association of Architecture Teaching Institutions of the Mexican Republic (ASINEA) and has obtained the Pedro Pelandini state award for the best Architecture thesis three times in the last five years.
