Master your choice of performance style

Expand your passion for theatre with our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours) (Theatre). Throughout this degree, you will master your choice of theatre performance, theory or stage management at Australia’s second oldest actor-training institution whilst being supported by our expert staff.

This degree offers you the opportunity to experience an equal mix of studio practice and theory led learning, allowing you to create your own performance material and acquire the skills necessary to sustain a career in theatre. You will also develop an advanced understanding of the nature and impact of drama and theatre in human society.

Career outcomes

As well as providing you with the skills to advance in an established career, you will be prepared to work as a collaborative artist, events manager, play, and screenwriter, arts administrator, community arts officer, youth arts officer, researcher, actor, marketing officer, a secondary school teacher.

Loan to help you pay your fees

You may not have to pay your course (subject) fees upfront. HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP allow you to defer your fees until your income reaches a certain level.

You may also be eligible to receive financial support from Centrelink.

You may be able to apply for scholarships to help with your study costs.

Entry Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor degree, or equivalent, in Creative Arts or a related discipline, with a minimum Grade Point Average of 5.0.

Applicants will be required to write a proposal outlining their field of study (relevant to the appropriate discipline), that also outlines the initial direction of their Honours research. Students will also be required to have an interview with a relevant supervisor/s (telephone or face-to-face). This will be in addition to students having a 5.0 (or above) GPA.

English Language Requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

  • Semester 1, 2019 - applications close Monday 18 February, with semester 1 commencing on Monday 25 February 2019.
  • Semester 2, 2019 - applications close Monday 1 July, with semester 2 commencing on Monday 15 July 2019.

Credit for previous study or work experience

You may be eligible for a credit if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
