Further practical and theoretical skills

Expand your passion for creative arts and enhance your musical abilities through our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours) (Music). This degree will help you to further develop your practical and theoretical skills in music. Throughout your studies, you will gain independent research skills, learn to apply theory, and develop academic expertise. This degree also gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge through a dissertation you will write under supervision in your area of interest.

This degree will give you specialized and advanced training in the area of music performance, giving you the edge you need to succeed in the industry. You will have the practical skills and knowledge necessary to become a soloist or part of an ensemble, jazz performer, repetiteur, music critic, music administrator, librarian, concert promoter, accompanist, orchestral musician, scholar, studio teacher and secondary school teacher (with further study).

Loan to help you pay your fees

You may not have to pay your course (subject) fees upfront. HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP allow you to defer your fees until your income reaches a certain level.

Entry Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor degree, or equivalent, in Creative Arts or a related discipline, with a minimum Grade Point Average of 5.0.

Applicants will be required to write a proposal outlining their field of study (relevant to the appropriate discipline), that also outlines the initial direction of their Honours research. Students will also be required to have an interview with a relevant supervisor/s (telephone or face-to-face). This will be in addition to students having a 5.0 (or above) GPA.

English Language Requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

  • Semester 2, 2019 - applications close Monday 1 July, with semester 2 commencing on Monday 15 July 2019.

Credit for previous study or work experience

You may be eligible for credit if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
