This course will appeal to students who like to tackle real-world challenges through the intellectual rigour and purity of approach that is inherent in mathematics. The programme will develop your skills in pure and applied aspects of the subject to an advanced level, combining these with training in probability, advanced statistics and data analysis. In your final year of study, you will tackle a piece of independent research, bringing together this comprehensive portfolio of skills to focus upon a research question of your choice. The Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics offers a high-quality education meeting the instructional and professional needs of our students, nurturing in them an appreciation of mathematics, abstraction, rigor, and justification.

The degree prepares our students for mathematically related careers in education, government, and the private sector, as well as for graduate studies in mathematics. Students choose from three concentrations: Applied Mathematics, Applied Mathematics with Computer Science, and Pure Mathematics.

Applied Mathematics ConcentrationThe Applied Mathematics concentration focuses on mathematical tools used in other disciplines. Specifically, students will gain an understanding and experience with the practical applications of differential equations, numerical analysis, and operations research.
