Introduction
The Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice bridges crime and punishment, and the social sciences through an interdisciplinary, liberal arts-rooted program that incorporates theory, practice, and values.
This is a new and exciting area of study that will connect social theory and research with practical applications to create well-rounded citizens of the world. Graduates of criminal justice are prepared for a variety of paths following graduation, including law enforcement, law school, graduate-level work in criminology and criminal justice, and for careers at the local, state, and federal levels in law enforcement, corrections, and court-related agencies.
A Real-World Education for Your Career
You will need rigorous practical and theoretical training to be successful at developing a career in the field of criminal justice. Unlike other programs that are only rooted in business, pre-law, or police training, the program at Stritch is comprised of four components: the Sociology Core, the Criminal Justice Core, Criminal Justice electives, and the methods/internship component.
This will help you explore career fields, develop real skills, gain actual work experience and expand your professional network. When you graduate and begin your career, you will be up-to-speed with the latest developments and changes in the industry.
Explore the Program at Any Time
All undergraduate students at Stritch take a series of general education courses rooted in the liberal arts tradition and our Franciscan heritage. We call this our CORE Curriculum and its purpose is to help you find what you love about the subjects you study. As a Stritch student, you can choose to try out this field by taking the foundational Criminal Justice Core class, “Introduction to Criminal Justice” to see if this field is something you want to pursue.
