Creativity, design and communication
Our department is built upon these three notions that changed the world swiftly over the last two centuries. The aim of our department is to raise individuals that will participate in mass communication processes. We welcome our Radio, Television and Cinema students with a corresponding perception of technology and education, course schedule and an academic staff. The magical words of the contemporary communication world, ‘now, here and immediately’ indicate to be online without any interruption. These notions also comprise social media, television and radio broadcasting, cinema, and the world that we carry with us, new media, which shape our lives. As all these media intertwine with each other on the level of content and organization, they also connect individuals and societies with each other. As a department with this field of training, we are aware of the changing media structure. We have a responsive program that gives our students the insight this era requires, which is having an open mind to innovation and attuning themselves to new developments. Our students learn by practice. We expect them to reflect their knowledge of basic theories related to their fields in their designs and express themselves creatively through them. This is why we consider the practice also as a way of self-development process, rather than just a way of learning. Our students benefit from the opportunities of our media center and get their education through a continuous practice. They operate photography, television and radio studios; cameras and editing units,...

In today’s global competitive environment, modern corporations are being highly affected by the dynamism and rapid developments in international trade and finance, and global economy. Hence, today’s successful organizations are looking for the newcomers who are aware of the recent developments, able to analyze the changes, and integrate that analytic information with their accumulative knowledge that they have gained from their university education to make right and fast decisions both for their selves and for their organizations. Therefore, companies operating in our country will need much more qualified employees, i.e. knowledge workers who can monitor the recent developments analyze the results. Film Design Program was designed for a new generation of film artists who share a passion for motion pictures and want to learn by making their own projects in a hands-on program.
Learning to be a filmmaker is not done by theory alone. It is done by immersion in the process and by knowing the “whys” that teach the “hows”. It is done by hands-on experience, trial and error, feedback and correction, and questions and answers. Filmmaking demands the integration of many kinds of knowledge. In our film design courses, students learn not only how to operate a camera, light a scene, or edit a film, but they also learn how all the aspects of filmmaking relate to, interact with, and depend upon each other....

Alongside the literature of the British Isles, students in the department have the opportunity to study other Anglophone cultures and to think critically about questions of cultural domination and autonomy in the context of the history of empire and decolonization.
