Introduction
Turn your passion for literature into a profession. You could be the English teacher who expands students' world views, language development, interpretation skills, and creative thinking. In this four-year, 120 credit hour undergraduate BA program, you will learn to plan assessment-informed instruction for educational excellence and equity for all children, including those from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, class and ability backgrounds.
At CU Denver, preparing English or Language Arts teachers is a highly collaborative process between the English department in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the School of Education & Human Development. This program offers real-life experience with secondary schools in the Denver Metro area school districts. In this teacher education program, you will learn from nationally and internationally recognized faculty members known for innovation and research in literacy, language, social and emotional growth, and building a diverse teacher workforce. Through the English department, you will garner the essential content and education theory needed to be an effective English teacher. In our school district partnerships, you will "live the life of a teacher," becoming a vital member of the teaching staff as a teacher candidate.
